Job Summary

Mediclinic is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Professional Nurse to join our Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. This role involves providing exceptional critical care to adult patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will combine clinical expertise with empathy, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care. This position is critical for monitoring, assessing, and managing critically ill patients, while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care to critically ill adult patients, including assessment, monitoring, and intervention in line with established protocols.

• Administer medications, IV therapies, and other treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.

• Monitor and interpret vital signs, laboratory results, and diagnostic reports to make informed clinical decisions.

• Respond to emergencies promptly, including resuscitation and advanced life support interventions.

• Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting all aspects of care in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.

• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding illness, treatment, and recovery processes.

• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with ICU practices and protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Valid Nursing License/Registration in the country of practice.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing) or equivalent; a Master’s degree is a plus.

• Strong understanding of critical care principles, adult ICU protocols, and emergency procedures.

• Proficiency in using ICU equipment such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and make quick, informed decisions in high-stress environments.

• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.

Experience

• Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in an Adult ICU or Critical Care setting.

• Previous exposure to emergency response, patient monitoring, and multi-disciplinary collaboration preferred.

Working Hours

• Full-time role with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays as per ICU requirements.

• Flexibility to respond to emergencies outside regular shift hours is essential.
