Job Summary

As a Medical Scheduler and Triage Coordinator, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and medical staff, ensuring efficient scheduling and appropriate triage routing. Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule, confirm, and manage medical and blood donation appointments using electronic systems.

  • Triage inbound calls, emails, and online requests from patients and healthcare professionals.

  • Identify patient needs, assess urgency, and route inquiries to the appropriate medical team or department.

  • Verify patient demographics, insurance details, and appointment information with accuracy.

  • Coordinate communication between donors, nurses, and medical staff to ensure smooth scheduling and follow-up care.

  • Maintain accurate records of all communications and updates in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

  • Provide compassionate customer service to patients, donors, and families, addressing questions or concerns professionally.

  • Collaborate with the clinical and administrative teams to optimize workflow and reduce appointment delays.

  • Assist in developing scheduling reports and performance metrics as requested by supervisors.

  • Participate in ongoing training and performance evaluations to maintain high standards of medical scheduling excellence.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).

  • Prior experience in medical scheduling, triage coordination, or healthcare administration.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a remote environment.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and patient privacy protocols (HIPAA compliance).

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, empathy, and professionalism in all communications.

  • Reliable internet connection and dedicated workspace suitable for remote work.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in a healthcare scheduling or patient services role.

  • Experience in remote work environments and handling high call volumes is a plus.

  • Prior experience in a hospital, clinic, or nonprofit health organization preferred.

Working Hours

  • Flexible work-from-home schedule with full-time or part-time options available.

  • Must be available to work between 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM (local time), depending on shift allocation.

  • Weekend and holiday coverage may be required on a rotational basis.
