Job Summary

PodType Studios is seeking a detail-oriented Podcast Transcription Editor to support our growing portfolio of digital audio content. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for transforming podcast audio into accurate, polished, and publication-ready transcripts. You will work closely with production teams to ensure that all transcripts reflect superior linguistic quality, adhere to brand guidelines, and enhance accessibility for diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities

• Listen to podcast episodes and create high-quality, verbatim or clean-read transcripts based on project requirements.

• Edit, proofread, and format transcripts to ensure clarity, grammar accuracy, and stylistic consistency.

• Verify speaker identification, timestamps, and contextual accuracy throughout transcripts.

• Collaborate with producers, content strategists, and writers to maintain consistency in tone and terminology.

• Meet daily or weekly transcription deadlines with exceptional reliability and attention to detail.

• Apply editorial guidelines, style sheets, and quality standards provided by PodType Studios.

• Manage multiple transcription projects simultaneously while maintaining top-tier accuracy.

• Flag audio issues, inconsistencies, or content requiring clarification to the production team.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent written and spoken English proficiency.

• Strong command of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and editorial conventions.

• Excellent listening ability, including deciphering varied accents, audio qualities, and speaking styles.

• Proficiency with transcription software, word-processing tools, and productivity platforms.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

• Strong time-management and organizational skills with consistent attention to detail.

• Fast and accurate typing speed (65+ WPM preferred).

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in transcription, editing, proofreading, or related editorial work.

• Experience with podcast transcription or digital audio content is a strong advantage.

• Familiarity with style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago Manual of Style) is preferred.

Working Hours

• Flexible remote schedule.

• Ability to commit to project-based deadlines or weekly transcript volumes.

• Occasional availability for urgent turnaround assignments may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Solid understanding of podcast formats, storytelling structures, and conversational flow.

• Ability to differentiate speech patterns, speaker tones, and context within audio files.

• Familiarity with modern transcription tools (e.g., Express Scribe, oTranscribe, Descript, etc.).

• Strong analytical skills and an ability to ensure accuracy in complex or technical content.

• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and communication skills.
