Job Summary

SKF India, a global leader in bearings and precision engineering solutions, is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical QA/QC Engineer to join our Precision Manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards across all mechanical components and assemblies, adhering to stringent industry specifications and customer requirements. This role combines technical expertise in mechanical systems with meticulous attention to detail, supporting SKF’s commitment to excellence in manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes for precision mechanical components.

  • Conduct inspections, testing, and audits of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products.

  • Identify, document, and resolve non-conformances, working closely with production and design teams.

  • Analyze production data and quality metrics to recommend improvements in processes, materials, and product performance.

  • Ensure compliance with international standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.) and SKF internal quality protocols.

  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with suppliers to monitor and improve incoming material quality.

  • Provide technical support for continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing projects.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, precision manufacturing processes, and materials science.

  • Proficiency in inspection techniques, metrology tools, and quality testing methods.

  • Familiarity with CAD drawings and technical specifications.

  • Solid knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO/TS, or equivalent quality management standards.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in mechanical QA/QC within precision engineering or manufacturing environments.

  • Hands-on experience in inspection, testing, and validation of high-precision components is highly preferred.

  • Experience with quality management software (QMS) and data analysis tools is advantageous.

Working Hours

  • Standard manufacturing shifts (typically 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM).

  • Flexibility may be required for urgent quality audits or production issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect minute deviations in precision components.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

  • Competence in using mechanical testing and metrology equipment.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to quality improvement.

  • Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
