As the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Aetna Health Care, you will play a pivotal role in driving our healthcare strategy, ensuring the delivery of high-quality medical services, and promoting patient-centric care. Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of Aetna clinical strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight for medical policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensure the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality healthcare services to members.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on healthcare initiatives and policy development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee clinical quality programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Analyze healthcare trends and emerging technologies to recommend innovative healthcare solutions.
  • Drive initiatives to improve patient care coordination and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Act as the clinical face of Aetna in external forums, conferences, and policy discussions.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO with a valid medical license in the United States.
  • Board certification in a relevant specialty, preferably in primary care or a related field.
  • Advanced degree in business, healthcare administration, or public health is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare delivery models, medical policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in managed care organizations or integrated healthcare delivery systems.
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of driving healthcare innovation and quality improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in healthcare management.
  • Experience working in a managed care environment or healthcare insurance company is preferred.
  • Expertise in population health management, quality assurance, and cost-containment strategies.

Working Hours:

  • Full-time position, typically 40-50 hours per week.
  • Flexibility required for attending executive meetings, conferences, and industry events.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, clinical guidelines, and managed care principles.
  • Ability to effectively manage and lead teams to achieve business and clinical objectives.
