Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and tech-savvy IT Support Technician Apprentice to join our growing IT team. This is an entry-level, apprenticeship position designed for individuals passionate about technology and eager to build a career in IT support. Based in the UK, this role provides hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to a wide range of IT systems and services, while you work toward a nationally recognised qualification.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues
- Set up and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, and mobile devices
- Log incidents and service requests accurately in the helpdesk system
- Support with user account creation, password resets, and permissions management
- Participate in routine IT maintenance, updates, and patching activities
- Work with senior technicians to escalate and resolve complex issues
- Maintain documentation and follow internal IT procedures and policies
Required Skills and Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and ICT preferred
- A keen interest in IT, computing, or technology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong willingness to learn and take initiative
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
- Eligible to live and work in the UK
Experience
- No prior experience necessary – this is a training/apprenticeship role
- Any school projects, personal IT hobbies, or volunteering experience is a plus
Working Hours
- Full-time, typically 37.5 hours per week
- Monday to Friday (9:00am – 5:30pm)
- Occasional flexibility may be required during system updates or support needs
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic understanding of hardware components (PCs, printers, routers)
- Familiarity with common software applications (Office 365, browsers, email clients)
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to follow technical instructions and procedures
- Team player with a customer-focused approach
