Key Responsibilities



  • Support engineers in daily tasks including design, maintenance, and testing

  • Assist in the installation, repair, and servicing of machinery and equipment

  • Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

  • Operate and maintain engineering tools, equipment, and software systems

  • Help with routine safety checks, inspections, and compliance procedures

  • Work closely with senior technicians, supervisors, and project teams

  • Record data, prepare reports, and contribute to ongoing project documentation

  • Attend off-the-job training (in college or virtually) as part of the apprenticeship




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and a science/technology subject – minimum grade 4/C

  • Strong interest in engineering, design, or technology

  • Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills

  • Commitment to completing all training and coursework

  • UK residency and eligibility to work in the UK




Experience



  • No previous engineering experience required

  • Any hands-on experience through school projects, hobbies, or work placements is a plus




Working Hours



  • Full-time: Monday to Friday, typically 8:30am – 5:00pm (approx. 37.5 hours/week)

  • Some employers may offer shift patterns or overtime depending on the role




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Basic knowledge of health & safety in a workshop or technical environment

  • Willingness to learn CAD software, machinery operations, and production processes

  • Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to follow instructions, technical processes, and standard operating procedures

  • Eagerness to grow within the engineering sector
