Key Responsibilities:

  • Pharmacy Benefits Support: Assist members with inquiries about their pharmacy benefits, including coverage options, formularies, co-pays, and medication availability.
  • Prescription Assistance: Support members by answering questions about their prescriptions, including processing refills, ensuring timely medication delivery, and resolving issues with prescriptions or medications.
  • Pharmacy Systems Navigation: Use pharmacy management systems to look up medication information, process claims, and assist members with coverage verification or medication alternatives.
  • Coordination of Care: Work with healthcare providers, pharmacists, and other healthcare team members to coordinate the timely filling of prescriptions and resolve medication-related concerns.
  • Medication Education: Provide members with information regarding their medications, including proper use, potential side effects, and adherence strategies to ensure optimal health outcomes.
  • Claims Resolution: Investigate and resolve pharmacy claims issues, including rejected claims or billing discrepancies, by working directly with insurance carriers and pharmacies.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Offer empathetic, professional support to members, ensuring a positive experience and addressing concerns or inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of member interactions, prescription issues, and resolution outcomes, ensuring that all data is securely documented and compliant with relevant regulations.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or certification in pharmacy support is preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy support role or customer service position, preferably in healthcare or insurance.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations, prescription medications, and insurance benefits.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain pharmacy benefits, medication-related information, and insurance policies clearly to members.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management systems, claims processing, and pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) tools.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on providing solutions to member  pharmacy-related issues.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of pharmacy support.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Cigna or a similar health insurance provider.
  • Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid prescription benefits and regulations.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, etc.) are a plus.
