Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, adhering to traditional recipes and high-quality standards.
- Ensure consistent taste, presentation, and portion control of all dishes served.
- Manage kitchen operations efficiently, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop new menu items, seasonal specials, and promotional dishes.
- Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen workflow and skill development.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations according to Singapore’s standards.
- Monitor kitchen equipment usage and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
- Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless communication and exceptional guest satisfaction.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven expertise in Indian cuisine, with a strong understanding of regional flavors, spices, and cooking techniques.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification from a recognized culinary institute is preferred.
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in preparing diverse Indian dishes such as curries, tandoori, biryanis, and breads (naan, roti).
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead a kitchen team and work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Creativity and passion for food innovation and presentation.
- Effective communication skills in English; additional knowledge of Indian languages is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience as a chef specializing in Indian cuisine, preferably in a restaurant setting.
- Experience working in international or multicultural kitchens is an advantage.
Working Hours
- Full-time position with flexible shifts based on restaurant operating hours.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
