Job Summary
As a Bell Staff Member aboard a cruise ship, you will be one of the first points of contact for embarking guests. This frontline role involves warmly welcoming passengers, assisting with their luggage, and escorting them to their assigned cabins. You will ensure a smooth arrival and departure process while providing courteous, prompt, and professional service throughout their stay. Your role is critical in delivering a world-class guest experience and maintaining the reputation of the cruise line.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist guests during embarkation and disembarkation.
- Handle luggage loading, unloading, sorting, and delivery to assigned cabins.
- Escort guests to their staterooms while providing brief orientation of ship facilities.
- Assist elderly or disabled guests with boarding and mobility needs.
- Maintain accurate records of luggage tags and cabin numbers.
- Respond promptly to guest inquiries and special luggage requests.
- Coordinate with housekeeping, reception, and security teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Deliver amenities and lost luggage when needed.
- Uphold ship safety procedures and guest service standards at all times.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Physical stamina to lift, carry, and transport luggage.
- Team player with a can-do attitude and professional appearance.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
- Basic proficiency in English (additional languages are a plus).
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year in a customer service, hospitality, hotel, or bellhop role preferred.
- Previous cruise ship or maritime experience is an added advantage but not mandatory.
- Experience working in high-volume guest service settings is desirable.
Working Hours
- Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays.
- 8–10 hours per day based on guest arrival/departure schedules.
- Contract durations typically range between 6–8 months at sea.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with cruise ship layouts and cabin numbering systems.
- Knowledge of luggage handling procedures and safety regulations.
- High awareness of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Cultural sensitivity and professionalism in dealing with international guests.
