Job Summary
SilverShell Cruise Group is seeking vigilant, people-focused Cruise Security Assistants to help keep our guests, crew, and assets safe across our global fleet. This entry-level position is ideal for disciplined self-starters who are calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and eager to build a maritime security career. You will support access control at gangways, patrol public and crew areas, screen luggage and provisions, observe CCTV, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with international maritime security standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Access Control & Screening
- Monitor and control embarkation/disembarkation points, verifying IDs, crew cards, and visitor passes.
- Conduct screening of guests, crew, baggage, and ship stores using metal detectors, X-ray machines, and manual searches as required.
- Patrols & Surveillance
- Perform regular foot patrols of guest, crew, and restricted areas to detect and deter security risks.
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems; promptly escalate irregularities.
- Incident Response
- Assist in responding to security incidents, medical emergencies, crowd control, and muster/evacuation drills.
- Preserve evidence and support report writing under the supervision of senior security officers.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate incident logs, screening records, and access control registers.
- Follow the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and flag/port state regulations.
- Customer Service & De-escalation
- Professionally manage conflict situations with tact and respect.
- Provide clear guidance and assistance to guests and crew while maintaining security posture.
- Safety Culture
- Participate actively in safety drills, trainings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report hazards, near-misses, and non-compliance observations immediately.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma / 10+2 or equivalent.
- Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of personal integrity.
- Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods, climb stairs, and lift/carry up to 20 kg.
- Basic computer literacy (CCTV monitoring systems, incident reporting, email, MS Office or similar).
- Willingness to work at sea for extended contracts and in a multicultural, 24/7 operational environment.
- Valid passport and the ability to obtain necessary seafarer medical clearance.
- Ability to pass background checks and pre-employment screenings.
Experience
- No prior shipboard experience required—this is an entry-level role.
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, hospitality security, aviation screening, event security, or military service is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Training in First Aid/CPR/AED, crowd management, conflict de-escalation, or loss prevention is desirable (or will be provided).
working Hours
- Rotational, shipboard schedule (typically 10–12 hours per day, 7 days per week) during contract period.
- Shift-based work including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Typical contract pattern: 4–6 months on board / 2 months off (may vary by vessel and region).
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge (can be gained through training onboard):
- Basics of the ISPS Code, security levels, and shipboard access control procedures.
- Emergency response protocols, muster procedures, and evidence preservation.
- Use of screening technology (handheld metal detectors, X-ray scanners).

- Professional, courteous guest interaction with strong de-escalation and conflict resolution abilities.
