  • Identify process gaps and automate repetitive tasks using Xero add-ons / APIs / Zapier / Power Query.

  • Monitor KPIs: WIP recovery, on-time lodgements, first-pass accuracy, and client NPS.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Xero (mandatory); MYOB/QBO experience a plus.

  • Strong understanding of Australian GST, BAS/IAS, STP, superannuation, PAYG, payroll awards.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client files, deadlines, and stakeholders remotely.

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication in English suitable for client-facing work.

  • High attention to detail with a “reviewer’s eye” for catching anomalies before they reach the client.

  • Comfortable working with workflow tools (e.g., Karbon, Xero Practice Manager, Asana, ClickUp).

  • Ability to create and maintain SOPs, checklists, and templates.

Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on Australian bookkeeping & payroll experience, including BAS/IAS preparation.

  • Prior experience in an Australian bookkeeping/accounting practice is strongly preferred.

  • Experience servicing multiple SMEs across different industries.

  • Prior remote/WFH experience with structured workflows and SLAs is advantageous.

  • (Nice to have) Exposure to basic tax compliance support (collating files for the tax team, not tax prep).

Working Hours

  • Remote / Work From Home.

  • Core collaboration window to overlap with AEST/AEDT (e.g., 9:00 am – 5:00 pm AEST); some flexibility is possible.

  • Peak periods around month-end, quarter-end (BAS), and EOFY will require heightened availability.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Solid knowledge of ATO compliance timelines and lodgement procedures.

  • Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities; comfortable investigating and resolving discrepancies.

  • Process-orientation with the ability to standardise, document, and continuously improve workflows.

  • Professionalism, discretion, and strong client service mindset.

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and escalate risks early.

  • Tech-savvy and quick to learn new cloud tools and add-ons.

Benefits

  • 100% WFH with modern cloud-based systems and structured processes.

  • Exposure to a wide range of Australian SMEs and industries.

  • Opportunity to influence process improvements and automation initiatives.

  • Continuous learning culture with access to training, templates, and playbooks.

  • Competitive, experience-aligned compensation with performance-based incentives.
