Job Summary

Google is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our on-site operations team at our large office campus. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of building systems and facilities infrastructure. You will play a critical part in creating a well-maintained, functional, and sustainable workplace that supports Google’s mission to provide world-class environments for our teams.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, hands-on maintenance experience, and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and mechanical equipment.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure optimal performance of all facilities and equipment.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders to minimize downtime and ensure employee safety and comfort.

  • Collaborate with facility engineers, vendors, and contractors to support building upgrades, installations, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Monitor and maintain building management systems (BMS) for energy efficiency and equipment performance.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and compliance documentation.

  • Support workplace safety by following established procedures and participating in safety programs and audits.

  • Assist with space reconfigurations, equipment moves, and general facility support projects.

  • Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and Google’s internal operational standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

  • Proven technical skills in building maintenance, with expertise in one or more areas: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Good understanding of safety and environmental regulations.

  • Basic computer proficiency and experience with maintenance management software (CMMS).

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance or plant operations, preferably in a large corporate or industrial setting.

  • Experience with energy management systems, automation, or sustainability-focused maintenance practices is a plus.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, on-site position.

  • Standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) with occasional after-hours or weekend support for urgent maintenance tasks or special events.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.

  • Ability to safely use tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Understanding of facility automation and control systems.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to lift moderate weights and perform physical maintenance tasks safely.
