Job Summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bridge Design Engineer (Steel and Concrete) to join our multidisciplinary infrastructure design team. This role is ideal for early-career engineers who are passionate about bridge engineering and eager to contribute to complex and high-impact transportation and infrastructure projects.

As a Junior Bridge Design Engineer, you will support the planning, analysis, and design of steel and reinforced/prestressed concrete bridge structures, working closely with senior engineers and global project teams to deliver innovative, safe, and sustainable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the structural analysis and design of bridges, flyovers, viaducts, and related structures in steel and concrete

• Prepare design calculations, technical drawings, and design reports in accordance with relevant national and international codes

• Support detailed and preliminary design stages for highway, rail, and urban infrastructure projects

• Use industry-standard software for structural modeling, analysis, and detailing

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, highway, and construction engineers

• Review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for accuracy and compliance

• Assist in resolving design issues during project execution and construction stages

• Participate in design reviews, internal meetings, and technical discussions

• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sustainability standards in all design outputs

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage)

• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles related to steel and concrete bridges

• Familiarity with bridge design codes such as IRC, IS, Eurocodes, AASHTO, or BS standards

• Basic proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD Pro, MIDAS, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, LUSAS)

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or other CAD/BIM tools

• Good analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience

• 0–3 years of relevant experience in bridge or structural design

• Fresh graduates with strong academic backgrounds and relevant internships/projects are encouraged to apply

• Exposure to steel and reinforced/prestressed concrete bridge projects will be considered an advantage

Working Hours

• Full-time position

• Standard working hours: Monday to Friday
