Job Summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in building technology and smart infrastructure solutions, is seeking a skilled Onsite HVAC Technician to join our dynamic team. This role involves performing installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial and industrial buildings. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with a deep understanding of HVAC systems, safety standards, and client satisfaction. You will play a key role in ensuring building comfort, operational efficiency, and energy performance for our valued clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems including chillers, air handlers, condensers, and control systems in commercial facilities.

  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance and system inspections to identify and resolve performance issues.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems and implement timely repairs.

  • Calibrate and replace defective components such as compressors, motors, fans, and thermostats.

  • Work closely with building management teams to ensure minimal disruption during maintenance or repair work.

  • Ensure all HVAC systems comply with Johnson Controls’ quality, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Record maintenance activities, service reports, and system performance data accurately.

  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide efficient, customer-focused service.

  • Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives by recommending system improvements and upgrades.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma or Technical Certificate in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Valid HVAC certification and relevant state or local licenses.

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants, and control systems for commercial applications.

  • Ability to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and system schematics.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, gauges, and testing instruments.

  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Awareness of safety procedures, environmental regulations, and mechanical codes.

  • Basic computer literacy for documentation and service reporting.

Experience

  • Minimum: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC system installation, servicing, or maintenance for commercial or industrial buildings.

  • Preferred: Prior experience working in large commercial setups, data centers, or smart building environments with automated systems.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, on-site position.

  • Standard working hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

  • Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required during system outages or emergency service calls.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of HVAC system design, operation, and controls.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple service calls efficiently.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and teamwork.

  • Physically fit and capable of handling tools, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces when necessary.
