Job Summary

ICAR–IARI is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Seed Science to support ongoing research initiatives in seed quality, technology, and crop improvement. The selected candidate will work closely with senior scientists and research teams to conduct experiments, analyze data, and contribute to high-impact agricultural research projects. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about seed science, plant research, and sustainable agriculture who are looking to build strong research credentials in a premier institute.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing laboratory and field experiments related to seed science and technology.

  • Conduct seed quality testing, germination studies, vigor assessment, and related analyses.

  • Collect, compile, and statistically analyze experimental data.

  • Maintain accurate research records, databases, and documentation.

  • Support preparation of technical reports, research papers, and project presentations.

  • Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment and field plots.

  • Follow institutional research protocols, biosafety, and quality standards.

  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, researchers, and project staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Seed Science & Technology, Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Agriculture, Botany, or a closely related discipline.

  • NET/GATE qualification (preferred or as per project requirements).

  • Sound understanding of seed physiology, seed testing procedures, and crop production systems.

  • Basic statistical and data analysis skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and research documentation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Experience

  • Fresh postgraduates with strong academic backgrounds may apply.

  • Prior experience in seed testing laboratories, agricultural research projects, or field experimentation will be an added advantage.

  • Experience in handling research instruments and statistical software is desirable.

Working Hours

  • Part-time engagement as per project requirements.

  • Flexible schedule coordinated with the Principal Investigator.

  • May require occasional field visits during peak research activities.
