Job Summary

The Academic Advisor will play a key role in guiding students throughout their academic journey, helping them navigate degree requirements, academic challenges, and personal goals. This position is fully remote and ideal for professionals who are dedicated to empowering students through education and providing exceptional academic support in a virtual learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide academic advising to a diverse population of students enrolled in online degree programs.

  • Guide students in course selection, degree planning, and academic progress tracking.

  • Offer support and counseling for academic concerns, time management, and study strategies.

  • Monitor student performance and intervene when academic progress is at risk.

  • Maintain accurate advising records and documentation in the student information system.

  • Communicate regularly with students via email, video calls, and chat to ensure consistent support.

  • Collaborate with faculty, admissions, and student services teams to ensure a seamless academic experience.

  • Stay updated with university policies, academic programs, and institutional initiatives.

  • Participate in virtual training sessions, meetings, and continuous professional development activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Proven experience in academic advising, student support, or higher education administration.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to connect with diverse learners.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in online communication tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, etc.).

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and student information systems is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in academic advising, counseling, or student success roles.

  • Prior experience in online or distance education institutions will be considered a strong asset.

  • Experience working with multicultural and international student populations preferred.

Working Hours

  • Flexible remote working hours based on global student schedules.

  • Must be available to accommodate students in different time zones as needed.

  • Full-time position with occasional weekend or evening support during academic peak periods.

  • Deep understanding of academic advising principles and student development theories.

  • Empathetic and student-focused approach with strong active listening skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

  • Ability to analyze academic performance data and implement appropriate interventions.
