Job Summary

HR Talent Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and highly accurate Remote Health Insurance Coder (CPC Certified) to support healthcare clients in ensuring precise medical coding and claims processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation, assigning appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes, and maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a remote environment and are committed to coding excellence, data integrity, and healthcare compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medical records and provider documentation to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes.
  • Ensure compliance with current ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines and payer policies.
  • Validate charge capture and identify documentation gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with providers, billing teams, and auditors to resolve coding discrepancies.
  • Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks established by the organization.
  • Stay current with coding updates, regulatory changes, and payer requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing coding documentation and rationale.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards at all times.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Active CPC (Certified Professional Coder) credential from AAPC (required).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical billing workflows.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional medical coding experience, preferably in health insurance or revenue cycle environments.
  • Experience with risk adjustment, HCC coding, or payer-side coding is an advantage.
  • Prior remote work experience preferred but not mandatory.

Working Hours

  • Fully remote position.
  • Flexible scheduling with availability to align with client business hours (typically Monday–Friday).
  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak audit or submission periods.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare compliance and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret complex clinical documentation.
