Job Summary

Absa Group is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Senior Manager: Delivery Lead to spearhead the successful delivery of complex programs and strategic initiatives across the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership capabilities, capable of driving cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives while ensuring operational excellence. The ideal candidate will champion delivery frameworks, manage risks, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes aligned with Absa Group’s vision and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end program and project delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and organizational objectives.

  • Develop and implement delivery strategies, governance frameworks, and performance metrics.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of initiatives.

  • Manage program budgets, timelines, and resource allocation efficiently.

  • Identify risks and issues proactively, providing mitigation strategies and solutions.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in project delivery.

  • Report progress, key performance indicators, and program outcomes to senior leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, operational, and corporate standards throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.

  • Advanced certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum Master are highly desirable.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a proven ability to deliver complex programs.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of engaging senior executives and diverse teams.

  • Analytical and strategic thinking with a focus on problem-solving and results-driven execution.

Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in program or project delivery management, preferably in financial services or banking.

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale, complex programs across multiple functions or regions.

  • Experience in implementing delivery methodologies, governance frameworks, and performance measurement systems.

Working Hours

  • Full-time role with standard business hours; flexibility may be required based on project demands and deadlines.

  • Occasional travel may be required for stakeholder engagement and program oversight.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep understanding of program and project management frameworks, including Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.

  • Excellent decision-making and prioritization abilities under high-pressure conditions.

  • Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and reporting skills.

  • Ability to mentor and develop teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
