Job Summary

Afcons Infrastructure, a global leader in engineering and construction, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Planning Engineer to join our dynamic project planning team. The Trainee Planning Engineer will support senior planning professionals in developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, development, and updating of project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.

• Support the planning team in baseline schedule development, progress tracking, and reporting.

• Collect site progress data and update schedules on a regular basis.

• Assist in resource loading, cost loading, and forecasting activities.

• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and variance analysis.

• Coordinate with site engineers, construction managers, and other departments to gather accurate project information.

• Support delay analysis, risk assessment, and recovery planning under guidance of senior planners.

• Maintain proper documentation of planning data, schedules, and reports.

• Ensure compliance with Afcons’ planning standards, project controls, and reporting protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Basic to intermediate proficiency in Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.

• Good understanding of construction methodologies and project lifecycle.

• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to interpret drawings, schedules, and technical documents.

• Good communication and coordination skills.

Experience

• 0–2 years of experience in planning, scheduling, or project controls.

• Fresh graduates with relevant training or certification in Primavera P6 / MS Project are encouraged to apply.

• Exposure to infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, metros, tunnels, marine, or industrial projects will be an added advantage.

Working Hours

• Full-time position.

• Standard working hours with flexibility based on project requirements.

• Willingness to work extended hours or weekends during critical project phases, if required.

• Basic knowledge of project planning principles, CPM scheduling, and progress measurement techniques.
