Job Summary

Cigna Health Insurance is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Virtual Customer Care Coordinator to join our remote support team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for policyholders, assisting them with inquiries related to health insurance benefits, claims, billing, and coverage details. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a passion for providing excellent customer service in the healthcare industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound customer interactions via phone, email, and chat with professionalism and empathy.

  • Provide accurate information regarding health insurance plans, claims status, billing issues, and coverage eligibility.

  • Assist members in navigating online portals, mobile apps, and self-service tools.

  • Document all interactions in compliance with company standards and healthcare regulations.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalated issues quickly and effectively.

  • Educate customers about preventive care, wellness resources, and available health programs.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare privacy regulations at all times.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-first mindset.

  • Proficiency in using customer service software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to multitask, manage time efficiently, and work independently in a virtual environment.

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to resolve customer concerns effectively.

  • Knowledge of healthcare or insurance industry terminology is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in customer service, call center, or healthcare-related roles.

  • Prior experience in health insurance, claims support, or medical billing is highly desirable.

Working Hours

  • Full-time remote position with flexible scheduling.

  • Standard shifts may include mornings, evenings, or weekends to accommodate customer needs.

  • Overtime may be required during peak enrollment periods.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of healthcare insurance policies, claims processes, and member services.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive medical information.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and active listening.
