Job Summary

Pharmacy Technician is seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Virtual Patient Access & Scheduling Coordinator to support our healthcare operations remotely. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring seamless appointment scheduling, verifying insurance details, managing patient inquiries, and coordinating with clinical teams to enhance the patient experience. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in communication, multitasking, and delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound patient communications via phone, email, and digital platforms.

  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments across multiple healthcare providers.

  • Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefits prior to appointments.

  • Enter and maintain accurate patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.

  • Coordinate with clinical teams to manage provider availability and optimize scheduling flow.

  • Assist patients with portal access, billing inquiries, appointment instructions, and general support.

  • Process referrals and prior authorizations when required.

  • Identify urgent patient needs and escalate to appropriate medical personnel.

  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Track daily performance metrics and contribute to process improvements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong customer service orientation with a patient-centric approach.

  • Proficiency in scheduling systems, EHR platforms, or call-center software.

  • Ability to manage high call volumes while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

  • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

  • Familiarity with healthcare terminology and patient communication best practices.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in patient access, medical scheduling, call center support, or a healthcare administrative role.

  • Experience working with EHR systems (Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, etc.) preferred.

  • Prior remote work experience is an advantage.

Working Hours

  • Flexible remote schedule depending on clinic or provider needs.

  • May include rotating shifts, weekends, or evening hours based on patient volume.

  • Full-time position (typically 35–40 hours per week).

  • Comprehensive understanding of insurance processes, referrals, and prior authorization workflows.
