Job Summary

Pharmacy Technician is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medication Utilization Review (MUR) Technician to join our remote team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and cost-efficient medications by reviewing medication regimens, identifying potential issues, and supporting healthcare providers in optimizing patient care. This position is ideal for certified pharmacy technicians who possess strong analytical skills, clinical understanding, and a passion for improving medication outcomes—all from the comfort of their home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive Medication Utilization Reviews to assess appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness of prescribed therapies.

  • Identify and resolve medication-related issues, such as drug interactions, duplications, or inappropriate dosing.

  • Collaborate remotely with pharmacists, physicians, and healthcare professionals to improve patient care plans.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all review activities in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

  • Monitor ongoing medication therapies to ensure adherence and therapeutic success.

  • Provide support for quality assurance audits and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Stay up-to-date with pharmaceutical best practices, formulary guidelines, and medication therapy management protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or equivalent state certification required.

  • Strong understanding of pharmacology, therapeutic drug classes, and medication management.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers.

  • Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability for medication review and data validation.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high accuracy.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a clinical, hospital, or managed care setting.

  • Prior experience in Medication Utilization Review, Prior Authorization, or Medication Therapy Management (MTM) is highly desirable.

Working Hours

  • Flexible work-from-home schedule with options for full-time or part-time engagement.

  • Core hours typically fall between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (local time), depending on client and project needs.

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug nomenclature, and dosing guidelines.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Competence in data entry, documentation, and telecommunication tools.
