Job Summary

Pharmacy Technician is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Specialty Pharmacy Technician (Patient Support) to join our remote healthcare team. This role focuses on providing top-quality patient care, assisting with specialty medication coordination, and supporting patients with their therapy needs. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring patients receive their medications accurately and on time while maintaining exceptional service standards.

As a remote member of our pharmacy operations, you will work closely with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to manage prior authorizations, refill requests, and patient communication—all from the comfort of your home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with patients, prescribers, and insurance companies regarding specialty medications and therapy management.

  • Process prescription orders accurately and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

  • Support patients through benefit verification, prior authorization requests, and coordination of medication deliveries.

  • Maintain updated patient records and document all interactions in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.

  • Collaborate with pharmacists to identify and resolve medication-related issues and optimize patient outcomes.

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls professionally to provide timely updates and answer patient inquiries.

  • Monitor refill schedules and proactively reach out to patients to prevent interruptions in therapy.

  • Ensure timely coordination with specialty drug manufacturers or distribution partners for medication availability.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license or equivalent state certification required.

  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacy processes, medication handling, and insurance coordination.

  • Excellent communication and active listening skills with a patient-first mindset.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy when handling prescriptions and data entry.

  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems, EMR tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced remote environment.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a specialty or patient support role.

  • Experience with prior authorizations, specialty drugs, and patient assistance programs is strongly preferred.

  • Previous work-from-home experience in a pharmacy or healthcare support setting is an added advantage.

Working Hours

  • Flexible remote work schedule with standard working hours between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (depending on time zone).

  • Occasional weekend or evening support may be required based on patient needs.

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication therapies, and healthcare regulations.

  • Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion and integrity.

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
