Job Summary

The CSSD Supervisor – Sterilization and Equipment Processing Management is responsible for overseeing the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) operations, ensuring the highest standards of sterilization, decontamination, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. The role ensures compliance with infection control policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory healthcare requirements.

The successful candidate will lead a team of sterile processing technicians, manage workflow efficiency, and maintain quality assurance across all sterilization processes within the hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD)
• Ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and packaging of surgical instruments
• Monitor sterilization cycles and maintain accurate documentation of all processes
• Enforce infection prevention and control protocols across all CSSD activities
• Coordinate with operating theatres, wards, and clinical departments for instrument supply
• Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with healthcare standards and regulations
• Manage inventory of sterile supplies, consumables, and equipment maintenance schedules
• Train, mentor, and evaluate CSSD staff performance and competencies
• Ensure proper handling and traceability of surgical instruments
• Investigate and report any sterilization failures or process deviations
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives for workflow efficiency and patient safety

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Sterile Services, or Healthcare Management
• Certification in CSSD or Sterile Processing Technology (preferred)
• Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques (steam, plasma, and chemical sterilization)
• Understanding of infection prevention and control standards
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficiency in documentation and hospital information systems

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in CSSD or sterile processing
• At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role in a hospital setting

Working Hours

• Rotational shifts including day, evening, and night duties
• Weekend and public holiday rotations as per hospital schedule
