Job Summary

The Deckhand – Cruise Ship Exterior Cleaning and Docking Support plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of the vessel’s exterior areas. Working as part of the deck crew, this position ensures that all outdoor ship surfaces are clean, well-maintained, and prepared for docking and departure operations. The role also provides essential assistance during mooring, anchoring, and port-side activities, ensuring smooth and safe maritime operations in accordance with company and international safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the ship’s exterior surfaces, including decks, railings, walkways, and open areas
Assist in docking and undocking procedures, including handling ropes, fenders, and mooring lines
Support bridge and senior deck officers during port operations
Ensure all exterior areas are free from hazards, debris, and slip risks
Carry out washing, scrubbing, polishing, and pressure cleaning tasks as required
Assist in loading and securing equipment during port calls
Follow safety protocols during all deck and harbor operations
Maintain cleanliness of deck equipment and cleaning tools
Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to supervisors immediately

Required Skills and Qualifications

Basic understanding of maritime operations or willingness to learn onboard procedures
Physical fitness and ability to work in outdoor marine environments
Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team
Basic communication skills in English
Awareness of safety practices and hazard prevention onboard
Ability to handle ropes, tools, and cleaning equipment safely

Experience

Previous experience in deck work, ship maintenance, or industrial cleaning preferred
Freshers with strong physical capability and willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply
Experience in cruise, cargo, or marine environments is an advantage

Working Hours

Rotational shifts based on vessel itinerary and port schedules
Extended working hours during docking, departure, or maintenance operations
International sea-going schedule with onboard accommodation provided
Work schedules may vary depending on cruise itinerary and operational needs
