Job Summary
The Principal Survey Assistant – Field Survey Coordination plays a critical role in supporting field surveying operations across water infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for coordinating survey activities, ensuring accurate data collection, maintaining survey equipment, and assisting professional surveyors in delivering precise geospatial information for planning, construction, and maintenance of water systems. The role requires strong attention to detail, field readiness, and the ability to work in diverse outdoor environments while supporting large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and support field survey operations across multiple project sites

Assist surveyors in establishing control points, benchmarks, and site layouts

Conduct field measurements using surveying instruments such as GPS, total stations, and levels

Ensure accurate recording and validation of survey data collected in the field

Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure operational accuracy

Prepare and organize field reports, sketches, and data logs

Support mapping and geospatial data collection for infrastructure planning

Liaise with engineers, technicians, and project teams to ensure survey requirements are met

Ensure compliance with safety standards during all field activities

Assist in interpreting survey data for project planning and execution
Required Skills and Qualifications

Diploma or Certificate in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field

Strong understanding of surveying principles and field procedures

Proficiency in using GPS equipment, total stations, and surveying software

Ability to read and interpret maps, site plans, and technical drawings

Strong mathematical and analytical skills

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Good communication and teamwork skills

Physically fit and able to work in outdoor and challenging environments
Experience

2–5 years of experience in field surveying or construction surveying support

Experience working on infrastructure, utilities, or water-related projects is an advantage

Exposure to GIS systems or digital mapping tools will be beneficial
Working Hours

Full-time position

Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

Overtime and weekend work may be required based on project demands and field schedules

Frequent travel to field sites is required
