Job Summary
Coursera is seeking a highly motivated and creative Remote Instructional Designer to join our Higher Education team. In this role, you will collaborate with university partners, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to design and develop engaging, high-quality online learning experiences. You will play a critical role in transforming traditional academic content into innovative digital courses that meet global learner needs while maintaining academic rigor and instructional integrity.
Key Responsibilities

Design and develop online courses, modules, and learning materials aligned with higher education standards.

Collaborate with faculty, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to define learning objectives and course structure.

Apply instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to create effective and engaging learning experiences.

Develop multimedia content, including video scripts, assessments, interactive activities, and course resources.

Ensure accessibility, inclusivity, and compliance with global e-learning standards.

Review and revise course content based on feedback, analytics, and learner performance data.

Work closely with production, content, and technology teams to deliver high-quality courses on time.

Stay updated on emerging trends in online education and instructional design.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field.

Strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories.

Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a remote environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in instructional design, preferably in higher education or online learning platforms.

Proven experience designing and delivering online or blended learning programs.

Experience collaborating with academic institutions or faculty members is highly preferred.
