Job Description

Job Summary

Absa Group is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager: Delivery Lead to drive large-scale business and technology transformation initiatives across the organization. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of complex programs, ensuring alignment between strategic objectives, operational execution, and stakeholder expectations.

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams, manage delivery governance, optimize execution frameworks, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining exceptional quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of enterprise-wide programs, digital transformation projects, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement delivery strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage multiple project streams simultaneously across technology, operations, and business functions.
  • Build strong relationships with senior executives, business stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams.
  • Establish delivery governance frameworks, reporting mechanisms, and performance metrics.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks while implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery methodologies including Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and Hybrid frameworks.
  • Mentor delivery managers, project managers, and operational teams to build delivery excellence.
  • Manage budget planning, resource allocation, forecasting, and financial controls across programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification or MBA is advantageous.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master, SAFe, or Agile certifications are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise program management frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Deep understanding of digital transformation, banking systems, and enterprise delivery models.

Experience

  • Minimum 10โ€“15 years of professional experience in project delivery, program management, or transformation leadership.
  • At least 5+ years in senior leadership or management roles.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex enterprise initiatives in banking, financial services, or large corporate environments.
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams and multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Exposure to regulatory and compliance-driven industries is highly preferred.

Working Hours

  • Standard working schedule: 40โ€“45 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Additional hours may be required during critical project phases or major delivery milestones.
  • Hybrid or flexible working arrangements may apply depending on business requirements.
