Job Summary


Silverton Mortgage is seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced Mortgage Quality Control Auditor to join our dynamic remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing loan files to ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and federal and state regulations. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our mortgage processes by identifying potential risks, ensuring accuracy, and supporting overall operational excellence. Key Responsibilities



  • Perform thorough audits of closed mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with investor, federal, and state regulations.

  • Evaluate loan documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies.

  • Identify, document, and report discrepancies or compliance issues, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with underwriting, processing, and closing teams to resolve identified issues in a timely manner.

  • Prepare detailed audit reports and maintain accurate records of findings and resolutions.

  • Monitor changes in mortgage compliance regulations to ensure audit procedures remain current.

  • Assist in developing and refining quality control processes to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Participate in regular quality control meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Strong knowledge of mortgage industry standards, investor guidelines, and compliance regulations (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA).

  • Proficiency in reviewing loan documents including applications, income, credit, appraisal, and closing documentation.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and mortgage loan origination systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.




Experience



  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in mortgage quality control, underwriting, or loan auditing.

  • Previous experience with remote mortgage audit processes is preferred.




Working Hours



  • Flexible remote schedule with core hours typically Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (EST).

  • Occasional extended hours may be required during peak periods or regulatory audits.

  • Ability to interpret regulatory guidelines and apply them to audit processes.
