Job Summary


Matador Lending is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Remote Mortgage Compliance Officer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all mortgage operations, policies, and procedures strictly adhere to federal, state, and investor regulations. You will oversee compliance audits, identify potential risks, implement corrective actions, and support internal teams with guidance on regulatory changes. This is a fully remote position, offering an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong analytical skills and a passion for regulatory compliance in the mortgage industry.




Key Responsibilities



  • Monitor and evaluate mortgage processes to ensure compliance with federal, state, and investor regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, HMDA).

  • Conduct regular internal audits and quality checks on loan files to identify any compliance gaps.

  • Prepare and maintain compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to maintain regulatory compliance.

  • Collaborate with operations, underwriting, and closing teams to address and resolve compliance-related issues.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to mitigate compliance risks.

  • Support external audits and examinations by providing required documentation and reports.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Strong understanding of mortgage regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in mortgage loan documentation, auditing processes, and compliance reporting.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies or potential risks.

  • Comfortable working in a fully remote environment with minimal supervision.




Experience



  • 3+ years of experience in mortgage compliance, auditing, or related fields.

  • Experience working with loan origination systems and compliance software is highly preferred.




Working Hours



  • Full-time, Monday to Friday.

  • Flexible remote schedule with core availability during US business hours to support internal and external teams.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • In-depth knowledge of mortgage compliance regulations and investor requirements.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple audits and deadlines.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams while maintaining independence and objectivity in compliance functions.

  • Skilled in preparing accurate reports and delivering actionable recommendations to management.
