Job Summary
SoFi, a leading digital personal finance company, is seeking a Home Equity Mortgage Processor to join our dynamic remote team. This role is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who excel in processing mortgage applications with accuracy and efficiency. As a Home Equity Mortgage Processor, you will be responsible for reviewing, verifying, and processing home equity loan files, ensuring compliance with lending guidelines and regulatory requirements. Working from the comfort of your home, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional service to our clients while supporting the growth of our mortgage operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and review home equity mortgage applications from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Verify income, credit reports, property appraisals, and other supporting documentation according to SoFi and federal guidelines.
- Collaborate with loan officers, underwriters, and title companies to resolve issues and expedite loan approvals.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and company lending regulations.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clients regarding loan status and requirements.
- Identify and correct any discrepancies in loan files to ensure smooth and efficient closing.
- Meet or exceed performance and accuracy metrics within defined timelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in mortgage processing or home equity loan processing.
- Strong understanding of mortgage lending policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in loan processing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines.
Experience
- 2–4 years of experience in mortgage processing, preferably with a focus on home equity loans.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume mortgage environment is a plus.
Working Hours
- Full-time, remote position.
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Flexible based on time zone).
- Occasional weekend or extended hours may be required to meet loan closing deadlines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage documentation and loan processing procedures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret credit reports and financial documents.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
- High level of confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive client information.
