Job Summary


SecureMalls Inc., a leader in providing premium retail security solutions, is seeking a vigilant and detail-oriented Retail Loss Prevention Security Officer to safeguard store assets, deter theft, and ensure a safe shopping environment for customers and staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of integrity, excellent observational skills, and the ability to act swiftly in high-pressure situations. This role is key to maintaining the store’s reputation and profitability by reducing losses and enhancing overall security operations.




Key Responsibilities



  • Monitor store premises via surveillance systems and direct floor patrols to detect suspicious activities.

  • Apprehend and detain shoplifters in accordance with company policies and local laws.

  • Investigate incidents of theft, fraud, and policy violations, preparing detailed reports for management and law enforcement.

  • Collaborate with store management to implement and enforce loss prevention strategies.

  • Conduct bag checks and audits of deliveries, stockrooms, and cash handling processes.

  • Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support when necessary.

  • Maintain accurate incident logs and security records.

  • Provide visible deterrence to criminal activity through professional presence and communication.




Required Skills and Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred).

  • Proven experience in retail loss prevention, security, or law enforcement.

  • Strong observational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

  • Proficient in writing incident reports and maintaining accurate records.

  • Basic knowledge of CCTV, alarm systems, and security technologies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Physical stamina for prolonged standing, walking, and occasional pursuit situations.




Experience



  • Minimum: 1–2 years of experience in retail security, law enforcement, or a related field.

  • Preferred: Experience in large retail environments or shopping malls.

  • Any relevant certifications (e.g., Loss Prevention Certification, First Aid/CPR) are an advantage.




Working Hours



  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

  • Shifts may vary based on store operational hours and seasonal demands.




Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Knowledge of theft prevention techniques and security protocols.

  • Understanding of relevant legal guidelines for detention and evidence handling.

  • Ability to use judgment and discretion in handling sensitive situations.

  • Skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation.

  • Strong teamwork mindset with the ability to work independently when required.
