Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret medical records to identify diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
- Apply appropriate codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) to patient records for billing purposes.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, such as HIPAA.
- Work with healthcare providers to ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim statuses, rejections, and follow-ups.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of claims to insurance companies for reimbursement.
- Resolve billing issues, coding errors, and denials to facilitate timely payment.
- Maintain accurate records of all billing and coding processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or certification in Medical Billing and Coding is a plus).
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and basic coding systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other basic office software.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote setting.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Experience:
- No prior experience required. However, any internships or volunteer work in a healthcare or medical billing environment is beneficial.
- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CCA, or CCS) is preferred but not mandatory.
Working Hours:
- Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
- Flexible working hours within standard business hours.
- Work-from-home position with no commute required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical billing and coding standards and guidelines (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
