Entry-Level Medical Billing and Coding

Job Summary:

IT Sight Technologies is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry-Level Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our growing healthcare support team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing medical records and ensuring accurate coding for insurance billing purposes. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about healthcare administration and eager to develop their careers in medical billing and coding within a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and process medical records and reports to determine the appropriate billing codes.


• Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical procedures and diagnoses.


• Ensure that all billing codes comply with healthcare regulations and standards.


• Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify any coding or billing discrepancies.


• Prepare and submit insurance claims for reimbursement.


• Track and follow up on outstanding payments or denied claims.


• Maintain and update patient information in the medical billing system.


• Stay up-to-date with changes in medical billing codes and regulations.


• Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or AAPC) preferred but not required.


• Familiarity with healthcare billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large volumes of data.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Basic understanding of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.


• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.


• Strong organizational and time-management skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience:

• No prior experience required; however, experience in a healthcare or administrative role is a plus.


• On-the-job training will be provided to help you get started in the medical billing and coding field.

Working Hours:

• Full-time position with flexible working hours.


• Must be available to work between 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.


• Remote position; work from home.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis codes, and procedures.


• Understanding of insurance verification and claims submission processes.


• Ability to learn and adapt to new billing and coding software.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve billing issues efficiently.


• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with healthcare providers and team members.
