Job Summary
Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Natural Language Processing (NLP) Intern to join our innovative AI and Machine Learning division. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and refinement of NLP algorithms and models.
- Work on tasks such as text classification, entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and language modeling.
- Preprocess, clean, and annotate large datasets for supervised learning.
- Collaborate with researchers and software engineers to test, validate, and improve model performance.
- Document findings, present results, and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
- Assist in building and deploying models into Amazon’s production environments.
- Stay updated with the latest academic and industry trends in NLP and machine learning.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of Natural Language Processing concepts and techniques.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers).
- Familiarity with data handling tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and NLP toolkits (e.g., spaCy, NLTK).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setup and communicate effectively in a virtual team.
Experience
- Academic or personal projects in NLP, deep learning, or machine learning.
- Previous internships or research assistant roles in AI/ML are a plus but not mandatory.
- Publications or participation in NLP-related challenges (e.g., Kaggle, SemEval) is advantageous.
Working Hours
- Flexible part-time or full-time schedule (minimum 20 hours/week).
- Adaptable to global time zones; primary communication and meetings will be aligned to U.S. business hours.

- Strong interest in language models, generative AI, and semantic search.
- Ability to break down complex problems and explain them in simple terms.
- Keen attention to detail and willingness to engage in data annotation and evaluation work.
