Job Summary


Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Natural Language Processing (NLP) Intern to join our innovative AI and Machine Learning division. Key Responsibilities



  • Assist in the development and refinement of NLP algorithms and models.

  • Work on tasks such as text classification, entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and language modeling.

  • Preprocess, clean, and annotate large datasets for supervised learning.

  • Collaborate with researchers and software engineers to test, validate, and improve model performance.

  • Document findings, present results, and contribute to internal knowledge bases.

  • Assist in building and deploying models into Amazon’s production environments.

  • Stay updated with the latest academic and industry trends in NLP and machine learning.



Required Skills and Qualifications



  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.

  • Solid understanding of Natural Language Processing concepts and techniques.

  • Proficiency in Python and experience with ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers).

  • Familiarity with data handling tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy) and NLP toolkits (e.g., spaCy, NLTK).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup and communicate effectively in a virtual team.



Experience



  • Academic or personal projects in NLP, deep learning, or machine learning.

  • Previous internships or research assistant roles in AI/ML are a plus but not mandatory.

  • Publications or participation in NLP-related challenges (e.g., Kaggle, SemEval) is advantageous.



Working Hours



  • Flexible part-time or full-time schedule (minimum 20 hours/week).

  • Adaptable to global time zones; primary communication and meetings will be aligned to U.S. business hours.

  • Strong interest in language models, generative AI, and semantic search.

  • Ability to break down complex problems and explain them in simple terms.

  • Keen attention to detail and willingness to engage in data annotation and evaluation work.
