Job Summary
Rand Water is seeking a Senior Systems Analyst – Finance Systems Integration to lead the design, integration, optimisation and support of our finance technology landscape (ERP, EPM, Treasury, Procurement, Billing and Data Platforms). You will translate finance business needs into scalable, secure, and well-governed system solutions; own the end‑to‑end integration architecture; and ensure data flows are accurate, timely and compliant with internal controls and external reporting standards. This is a senior, hands-on role that blends business analysis, solution architecture, integration engineering and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Integration Architecture & Design
- Define, document and maintain the target integration architecture for all Finance systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA/Oracle ERP, EPM/BI, payroll, banking, procurement, asset management).
- Select and standardise integration patterns (APIs, ESB, ETL/ELT, event streaming, batch) and governance practices.
- Solution Delivery & Project Leadership
- Lead and/or contribute to full SDLC activities: requirements, functional & technical specs, configuration, testing, deployment and hypercare.
- Serve as solution owner for Finance integrations in multi-disciplinary project teams (IT, Finance, Audit, Cybersecurity, Data & Analytics).
- Data Quality, Controls & Compliance
- Implement robust reconciliation, exception handling and monitoring to ensure data completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
- Embed segregation of duties, audit trails and compliance with IFRS, GRAP, PFMA/MFMA (or relevant public-sector frameworks), internal policies and cybersecurity standards.
- Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Provide L3 support, root-cause analysis and performance tuning of integration layers and finance applications.
- Drive automation (RPA, workflow, CI/CD for integrations) and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort and cycle times (e.g., month-end close).
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary liaison between Finance, IT, external solution providers and implementation partners.
- Negotiate and manage SLAs, ensure adherence to architectural and security standards.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Maintain high-quality solution, interface and data lineage documentation.
- Mentor analysts and developers; promote best practices across teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting/Finance (with strong IT focus) or related field.
- Solid understanding of financial processes (General Ledger, AP/AR, Asset Management, Treasury, Budgeting & Forecasting, Consolidation, Costing).
- Strong hands-on expertise with ERP/EPM platforms (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Oracle ERP Cloud, SAP BPC/Group Reporting, Oracle EPM, OneStream, or equivalent).
- Proven experience designing and building integrations using APIs/REST/SOAP, ESB/iPaaS (e.g., SAP PI/PO, MuleSoft, Boomi), ETL tools (Informatica, DataStage, SAP Data Services, Azure Data Factory) and message queues/event streaming (e.g., Kafka).
- Proficiency with SQL, data modelling, master data management and data governance principles.
- Strong knowledge of IT general controls, cybersecurity basics, segregation of duties and audit requirements.
- Demonstrated capability in requirements engineering, solution documentation, test strategy/coordination (SIT/UAT) and change management.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills.
Experience
- 7–10 years of progressive experience in business/ systems analysis with a focus on Finance systems and integrations.
- At least 3–5 years in a senior or lead role owning integration architecture/design across multiple systems.
- Track record of delivering complex ERP/EPM implementations, upgrades or transformations (e.g., legacy to S/4HANA or Oracle Cloud).
- Experience in public sector / utilities / large, asset-intensive organisations is advantageous.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for integration code is a plus.
Working Hours
- Standard 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
- Flexibility required during project cutovers, month/ year-end closes, and critical incident resolution.
- Rotational after-hours/on-call support for high-priority integrations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of finance data structures, chart of accounts, cost centres, profit centres, assets, projects, and consolidation hierarchies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with a bias for automation and simplification.
- Ability to produce clear, concise documentation (functional/technical specs, data flow diagrams, sequence diagrams).
- Leadership and mentoring capability to uplift junior team members.
- Vendor and contract management literacy.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives.
